Ezma ZhaoCommunity Textile Artist | Sculptor | Fibre Artist | Ecological Artist
I am a textile and fibre artist, sculptor, embroiderer, poet, photographer, writer obsessive walker and traveller. I grew up in Wales surrounded by valleys and countryside, with an abundance of nature for inspiration. With strong ethical awareness of my making processes and source of materials, I have an obsessive passion for making and finding alternative ways of making in a productive and chemical free, zero carbon footprint way.
I run a children’s after school art club at The Hub in Newtown. This is through voluntary work with the aim to set up a place where children and families can bring their children and take part in a wide range of art and craft activities.
I am part of The Newtown Textile Museum committee and currently working on an education program at Newtown Textile Museum and running children workshops there. I am a strong believer in bringing communities together and including everyone. After all everyone counts and belongs.
