The Family Arts Campaign is a large scale, national collaborative programme led by the visual and performing arts sectors to increase levels of arts engagement by families. The Family Arts Festival runs throughout October and Llanfyllin participated with its Roald Dahl themed Halloween Workshop on the 25th Oct.

We worked with three groups of 25 participants each. Mark Burnett helped to carve 50 pumpkins as all children had a go and Catherine Williams brought a cardboard shadow theatre and showed families how to make moveable Roald Dahl inspired creatures and shapes out of black card. After the action families settled down to be whisked away into the land of Norwegian folk tales by Milly Jackdaw. Roald Dahl spent his childhood summer holidays in Norway and found inspiration in the traditional tales.

Supported by Literature Wales and Welsh Government as part of the Roald Dahl 100 Wales celebrations and by the Arts Council of Wales.
