Arts Extravaganza is a project aimed at adults with learning disabilities that has been running successfully for over 10 years.
Adults from Cae Melyn, Leighton Day Base and Rhoslyn and the local community took part this year. They attended 4 sessions over the summer taking part in drama, dance and visual arts workshops based on the theme of “the pond”.

In the visual arts workshop, with Caroline Lowe, they used natural materials to create colourful sculptures of insects which will go in Severn Farm Pond in Welshpool. In the drama and music workshop with Sharon Calder they created characters and sounds around the theme using percussion instruments and materials. In Dance with Helen Young they used feathers and bhangra dance to interpret different animals such as a frog. Towards the end of the final day participants displayed and shared their work with each other. There was a fantastic atmosphere, a lot of laughter and creativity and everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the project.
