SUMMARY:Madfabulous | 2026 | 12A | 1h 48m | Celyn Jones
DESCRIPTION:A riotous\, uncompromising celebration of otherness inspired by the unlikely British aristocrat who bankrupted his estate\, lived fast and died young. Madfabulous is inspired by Henry Paget\, 5th Marquis of Anglesey\, who smashed society’s notions of class\, gender and decorum\, squandering a multimillion fortune before his untimely death. \nWhen the flamboyant Henry Paget arrives in 1890s North Wales to claim his aristocratic inheritance\, his theatrical flair and defiant eccentricities send shockwaves through the upper-class elite\, much to the amusement of the local townspeople. Alongside his spirited cousin\, Lily\, and loyal butler\, Gelert\, Henry tries to carve out his own identity as the Fifth Marquess\, navigating suffocating traditions\, scheming relatives\, and the long shadow cast by his estranged father. \nInspired by a true story\, this riotous\, uncompromising celebration of otherness\, is led fearlessly by rising star and BAFTA nominee Callum Scott Howells (It’s a Sin\, The Beautiful Game)\, joined by a stellar supporting cast of three-time BAFTA nominee Rupert Everett (The Happy Prince\, An Ideal Husband)\, Ruby Stokes (Jay Kelly\, Bridgerton)\, BAFTA winner Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls\, Alice Through the Looking Glass)\, Louis Hynes (A Series of Unfortunate Events\, The Great)\, Louise Brealey (Sherlock\, Brian and Charles)\, Tom Rhys Harries (White Lines\, The Gentlemen) and Paul Rhys (Wuthering Heights\, Saltburn). \n“With a moustache resembling that of Proust\, Howells amusingly plays the flamboyant aristocrat Henry Paget\, 5th Marquess of Anglesey\, a delicate consumptive and aesthete who\, in the late 19th century\, blew his vast inheritance on colossal private theatricals\, wild parties and jaw-dropping performances in which he would appear in gender-challenging costumes\, including a diaphanous veil he wore as a “butterfly dancer”. He caused scandal with his behaviour and apparently unconsummated marriage to first cousin Lily (Ruby Stokes)\, whose attitude to him here is perhaps more affectionate and tolerant than it was in real life. Paget’s defiant public career was – recklessly or courageously – conducted while the disgraced Wilde was still in prison; like Wilde\, his life ended in French exile; and just as Wilde once described someone as “a peacock in everything but beauty”\, so poor Paget is a Wildean in everything but talent.” the Guardian \n\nWe screen films on the 2nd & 4th Friday of the month.\n The Old New Inn\, High Street\, Llanfyllin\, SY22 5AA\n Fridays @ 7.30pm\, doors open 7pm\n £6 a ticket (£4 under 18s) – cash on the door

SUMMARY:The Tuner | 2025 | 15 | 1h 47m | Daniel Roher
DESCRIPTION:A talented piano tuner who suffers from hyperacusis discovers an unexpected aptitude for cracking safes\, turning his life upside down. \n“Leo Woodall plays opposite Dustin Hoffman as one of a pair of New York piano tuners. And what a pair they are; they are a real pleasure to watch in an easy\, unforced drama that mixes romcom moments with a relaxed crime thriller. When Harry forgets the combination to his safe\, Niki discovers he has a skill for safe-cracking\, thanks to his sensitive hearing. He also meets student composer Ruthie (Havana Rose Liu) while tuning the piano at a music conservatory. How they get together is nicely done: Ruthie is irritated by the disruption to her work by the arrival of the piano tuner\, and she barely acknowledges Niki until she realises he has perfect pitch and can identify every note she plays. The characters do hold surprises even if the plot doesn’t\, including Uri\, who is not your average mob psycho but a shrewd and psychological manipulator of people. Some of the best moments are the unhurried scenes\, Niki and Harry in their clapped out van\, shooting the breeze\, in a groove of their own.”\nthe Guardian.\n\n\nWe screen films on the 2nd & 4th Friday of the month.\n The Old New Inn\, High Street\, Llanfyllin\, SY22 5AA\n Fridays @ 7.30pm\, doors open 7pm\n £6 a ticket (£4 under 18s) – cash on the door

SUMMARY:Midwinter Break | 2026 | 12A | 1h 30m | Polly Findlay
DESCRIPTION:Midwinter Break \n2026 | 12A | 1h 30m | Polly Findlay \nMidwinter Break is a stirring meditation on faith\, commitment\, and the enduring power of love\, as a longtime couple takes a life-changing trip to Amsterdam. After so much time and so many memories\, long-held promises and deeply concealed wounds threaten to come to light and force them to confront their future. \n“Sad\, spiky and brilliantly acted portrait of rupture and rapture – Polly Findlay’s barnstorming drama about interpersonal and religious tumult in late middle age is a triumph\, swerving any sense of sentimentalism” – The Guardian – Peter Bradshaw \n\n\nWe screen films on the 2nd & 4th Friday of the month.\n The Old New Inn\, High Street\, Llanfyllin\, SY22 5AA\n Fridays @ 7.30pm\, doors open 7pm\n £6 a ticket (£4 under 18s) – cash on the door

SUMMARY:Effi o Blaenau | 2026 | 15 | 1h 30m | Marc Evans
DESCRIPTION:Effi o Blaenau \n2026 | 15 | 1h 30m | Marc Evans \nBased on Gary Owen’s much lauded and widely performed monodrama\, Iphigenia in Splott\, ‘Effi o Blaenau’ is director Marc Evans’ cinematic interpretation set against the wide open landscapes of North Wales. The film follows Effi\, a young woman desperate to escape a town where the pubs are closed\, the jobs have vanished and her grandmother works night shifts in the local chip shop just to get by. A chance encounter in a Llandudno nightclub with injured soldier Lee\, played by Tom Rhys Harries\, briefly opens a door to something better. For a moment\, Effi glimpses a life she never imagined. The reality that follows is far tougher. As she faces the future as a single\, unemployed mother-to be\, Effi’s story exposes a stark social crisis: a system with too few maternity wards\, too few midwives and too many impossible choices made out of necessity rather than care. Leisa Gwenllian gives a searing performance as Effi\, evoking condemnation and sympathy in equal measures. \n\n\nWe screen films on the 2nd & 4th Friday of the month.\n The Old New Inn\, High Street\, Llanfyllin\, SY22 5AA\n Fridays @ 7.30pm\, doors open 7pm\n £6 a ticket (£4 under 18s) – cash on the door

SUMMARY:The Christophers | 2025 | 15 | 1h 40m | Steven Soderbergh
DESCRIPTION:The Christophers \n2025 | 15 | 1h 40m | Steven Soderbergh \nA mainstay of the London art scene since his starry breakout in the creative explosion of the 1960’s\, Julian Sklar (Ian McKellen) has drifted into a cluttered\, self-imposed seclusion. His two estranged children enlist Lori (Michaela Coel)\, a young painter and sometime-forger\, to pose as a prospective assistant and gain access to a fabled series of unfinished canvases Julian has buried deep in his home studio\, in a deceptive bid to secure an inheritance for themselves. \n“The double act of McKellen and Coel has the onscreen chemistry of the year.” – The Guardian – Peter Bradshaw \n\n\nWe screen films on the 2nd & 4th Friday of the month.\n The Old New Inn\, High Street\, Llanfyllin\, SY22 5AA\n Fridays @ 7.30pm\, doors open 7pm\n £6 a ticket (£4 under 18s) – cash on the door
