On Wednesday 3rd November youth from across North Powys came together at Theatr Hafren to take part in this year’s talent competition, which is now in its 3rd year! 6 youth clubs, Llanidloes, Machynlleth, Llanfair Caereinion, Newtown, Welshpool and Llanfyllin all held auditions in the week before half term to choose two entrants for the Live Performance and Visual Art category and new this year was a Welsh Culture category. On this night the judges, Counselor Russell George, Amber Deacon, Dai Robs, Amanda Farr and the youth winners from last year had a hard time deciding between the fantastic acts which incorporated a range of singers and dancers and a range of visual arts entries. The judges commented on the high quality of work and praised the young people for their hard work.
The winner of the Welsh Culture award went to Machynlleth Youth Club for their recipe book, the Powys Young Carers Group won the Visual Arts category with their Felt Banner and India Argent from Llanfyllin won the Live Performance category with an a cappella rendition of Make You Feel My Love by Adele.
The event was run as part of National Youth Work Week, it was managed by us and funded by Powys Youth Service.
