We received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and the Arts Council of Wales to deliver Arts Abode, a project aimed at those most effected by Covid-19.
In response to Covid-19 we delivered a series of arts activities with a range of vulnerable groups and those most affected by Covid-19 through 2021. We delivered a series of workshops and art packs throughout 2021. We delivered the following:
- Series of sessions online and in person outside with Camp Fire Cymru in Wrexham and Flintshire. They had great fun with Fiona Collins who told stories and created stories with children, young people with autism and their parents
- Charlotte Woodford delivered a singing and laughing yoga sessions at Credu’s Summer Event in Llandinam. Eliot Maddocks bought all things circusy, Frankie Mayfield bought aerial silk fun and Caroline Lowe did willow stars and wreaths at a Christmas party for young carers from across Powys, Wrexham, Denbighshire and Conwy held at Glyndŵr University.
- Online drama sessions throughout the year with Sharon Calder and supported by Iris Gordijn, Ineke Swnakhousen and Gary Foote with adults with learning disabilities who met bi-weekly
- Alwyn Wesson-Caberwal, Niall Evans and Sharon Calder delivered sessions in music, craft and drama for adults with learning disabilities at Cae Melyn, Rhoslyn and Mencap
- Jamila Walker delivered online painting sessions with older people registered with PAVO Befrienders
- Jamila Walker and Emily Wilkinson brought some fun painting sessions along to a watercolour group for older people
- Pauline Bennet and Clive Hopwood brought storytelling and music to two care homes in Powys and Tony Skeggs also got everyone singing along there also
- Polly Beck worked with a small group to support their mental health doing a range of crafts as did John Neilson who brought the joy of calligraphy
- Jane Mason was to undertake workshops with adults with learning disabilities in the south of Powys and these will be delivered in January as we had to cancel the booked sessions before Christmas
- Georgie Wright worked with homeless people sheltered at Ty Croeso on clay and drawing
- Ali Pickard worked with Victoria school focusing on refugee children and delivered a project all about kindness. They made global friendship symbols and made pendants with their friendship / anti-bullying phrases, embossed copper and made wire spoons to create a kindness sculpture. They also made mechanical moving gifts based on the recipients designs with gift certificates inside with the gift giver promising an act of kindness to the recipient
- Nicky Arscott worked with adults recovering from substance mis-use to create art works through writing and poems
- Zoe Haldane delivered a couple of online sessions for young people aged 16 – 25 to support their mental health
- Emily Wilkinson and Seren Gwanwyn put together activity packs which included 71 adult packs and 137 children packs that went to Hafal – for adults with serious mental health, older people at Mold Community hospital who were unable to have visitors and were there long term, parents and children who had experienced domestic abuse, children from really low income families, refugee and ethnic minority families and young people supported by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
